Theme: Transformers and inverters

hey i was just wondering....
i am thinking about building a transformer foe my laptop computer..
i want it to change 12V dc to 19V - 3.16A dc.
The reason for this is i own a boat that is equipt with a 12V battery (115 Amphours) and am currently using a 12V dc to 240V ac inverter (im fron NZ hence 240V) which i then convert back to 19V dc using the transformer supplyed with the laptop.
I figured this is uneconomic and was wondering how long the battery would last on my current setup and again on my proprosed one. (is it possible to work out the efficiency??)

The specs are:
Battery: 12V AC - 115 Amphours
current inverter used: INPUT: 12V DC OUTPUT: 230-240v AC 150W
current laptop transformer:
INPUT: 100-240V AC 1.5A and (50-60 HZ)
OUTPUT: 19V DC at 3.16A

proposed transformer: 12V DC to 19Vdc 3.16A (assuming minimal internal resistance)

is it possible to work out the battery life for both of these setups??
and if you have the time to work it out it would be highly appreciated.

thanks in advance Ben.

INPUT 12V-0V-12V(SECONDRY)
OUTPUT 220VAC 10A(PRIMARY)
*PLS I NEED THE SECONDRY WINDING(NUMBER OF TURNS) AND THE SIZE OF WIRE(GUAGE OF IRE)
*PLS I NEED THE PRIMARY WINDING(NUMBER OF TURNS) AND THE SIZE OF WIRE(GUAGE OF IRE).
*SIZE OF CASE FOR THE TRANSFORMER*
Thanks.

Have you tried using a protractor. They measure angles, maybe they can convert units of electricity if you try REALLY hard.
